My thoughts about the new Xbox360 Fall 09 Dashboard Update

So i was one of the lucky ones to get into the early preview program. And i must say that it is pretty awesome. For those who dont know, the main additions with this update will be Twitter, Facebook, and Last.FM functionality. It will also add the Zune Marketplace (I'm an iPod kinda guy myself, but the Zune is pretty awesome nonetheless!). Facebook and Twitter integration to your Xbox is a given winner. Almost EVERYONE uses Facebook, Twitter, or both. Now, what really stood out for me was the Last.FM integration. I've always heard of the site, but never bothered to use it. Once i set up my account last night (it literally took seconds) directly from my Xbox, i was amazed at what i saw. You can search by artist, genre, or even tags and find stations suitable to wahtever kind of music you want to hear. Another great function i liked was the photo slideshow for whichever artist was currently playing. I look forward to setting up my custom stations and everything within Last.FM. All in all, i say kudos to M-Soft for delivering such a cool update, and further expanding the Xbox 360 into more than just a "gaming system", but a complete multimedia machine.
